THE GRANNY FLAT
* For rent is a self-contained ground floor granny flat w/separate entrance connected to 2-storey freestanding house (flat is back 1/2 of downstairs).
* Open plan - bedroom, living room, kitchen plus own bathroom. Large space!
* Courtyard with wonderful bougainvillea, jacaranda?, ivy & passionflower.
* Rest of house is v. friendly but you can choose how much you want to mix with us.
* 3 blocks from King St, shops, food, entertainment, transport & 1 block from big park.
* New stove (being installed soon).
* Evolving garden - herbs, leafy veg. Get yr hands dirty!!
* Nice arty friendly slightly hippie housemates/neighbours.
* We have 1 gentle cat so would prefer not to have any other cats on the property (dogs definitely not suitable).
* Drawbacks: kitchen shelves are old/dodgy and it's cold & dark in winter (but great in summer). Plus upstairs floorboard (yr ceiling) creaks.
THE HOUSE
* Large 2 storey freestanding house 3 blocks from King St.
* Local traffic only, pretty quiet area (for the city).
* This house hasn't been vacant for over a decade - it just keeps getting handed on to friends because it's too good to give up.
* The housemates: 3 boys working full time (20y/o wine seller, 25y/o video editor, 28y/o set builder) and 1 29y/o girl doing her masters in environmental management. We're fun but not too loud (no time for love Dr Jones!)
* Note: 1 stable couple in the house, + 1 gay vego, so no homophobes thanks.
* Drawback: the owner doesn't like to spend any $$ on the place so if we want maintenance we generally do it ourselves.
